I was looking for some great blogs and I found yours.
Your layout is great, posts are easy to read... All around, it's a great journal.
Why is it the week after a long weekend is always so long? Or so it seems to me. It took until Wed. for the kids to get back in the swing of things. Attitudes just weren't good. Wed. was better and yesterday was much better. I am praying today is back to "normal". What ever that means.
Yesterday we went to a friends house and had a ladies day. The kids played and we visited and played in the kitchen again. We tried a new brownie recipe. The results were pretty good. They were rich and chocolatey. Best of all we just enjoyed visiting.
Today is produce! Yea!!! I ordered lots of goodies. Rainer cherries are at the top of the yea list. Followed by raspberries. We never know how much will come in, and how much of that we will send back. Berries are something that get sent back often because part of the case will have mold in it. We have to send the whole case back.
DH hasn't called to see where the paper work is yet. He had planned on calling either Thursday or Friday. Maybe he will have time today. It "should" be in Austin by now, but we ARE talking US Postal service so who knows. From there a stop in Abilene then on to here to visit two different desk before we get to go read the case file. Don't forget to go here http://www.homesteadblogger.com/mom2countrykids/ and let J know you are praying her home. I can't wait to share with her how many people are praying.
We have decided to go camping next weekend while we wait. That is flea market weekend about an hour and 1/2 from us. We will go up there and do the flea market, the zoo and ???? who knows what else. It will be a good "test" for the excursion and the trailer both. We haven't used it enough to really know what we need in the way of stuff yet. I did think of one more thing the other day. A top of the stove coffee pot. That way if we are stopped somewhere we can easily make coffee with out electricity. I need to call and make reservations today. I wanted to show DH the place I thought would be the best to camp in, but he had had a BUSY week. So I may just do it.
Last night DH worked until 12:30 on a set of plans that he had to bid on I think he said Monday. He has to count all the things he needs find prices and have the bid ready. Since today is Friday he had to do it last night to have it ready for Monday. He was given the job to do yesterday he said. Some one procrastinated! He has hired 2 new employees this week. He hopes that in a short time they will be able to benefit the store. He is short handed and can't find people willing to show up on time and learn the inventory and computer system. I just keep praying he can find someone to do the estimating so he doesn't have to. That would free him up to do what his job description shows. Not his job and another full time job.
Yesterday the kids pulled all the onions in one of the beds in the garden and planted more cantaloupes. I hope they make. Today I may have them do one more bed and plant either green beans or Okra. I also need to get the water going in the garden this morning. It hasn't rained to water it so I will have to. At least the wind is blowing. We use a windmill to keep the tanks full so I have to make sure we have wind when I plan on using a lot of water.
Yesterday I made the best salad. I had bought a bottle of Pesto salad dressing a while back. It was way to strong for salad. I thought it would be good on pasta. Yesterday I tried it with my creation. It was a hit! I took all my cherry and pear tomatoes that were on the table. I cut them in half. Then I added a purple onion in thin slices. I dumped in some raw frozen mixed veggies and poured the salad dressing on it. Boy was it good! I made a great big bowl of it. There is a tiny bit left. I will eat it for breakfast. Yes, I really do eat strange breakfast foods. Now I need to learn to make the dressing from scratch. It was a vinaigrette type.
It is light enough outside now not to step on a snake so I am off to turn waters on in the garden. All have a blessed day and be sure and let J know you are praying for her.
